Mastic sesame (tahini) halvah, handmade in the traditional way.
A traditional Greek snack made from the very nutritional tahini (ground sesame seeds into paste). The sesame seeds are exceptionally rich in iron, magnesium, manganese, copper, and calcium and contain vitamin B1 (thiamine) and vitamin E (tocopherol).
With very high antioxidant and anti-cancer properties. Sesame seeds also contain phytosterols associated with reduced levels of blood cholesterol. The nutrients of sesame seeds are better absorbed if they are ground or pulverized before consumption, as in tahini.
One portion of Halvah (about 80g) contains half of our daily need in iron and phosphor.
